At Brechbill Chiropractic, we’re honored to serve the Canton, OH area — and we know that serious injuries sometimes happen playing the sports this town loves. Nerve pain is often the result. It develops when a nerve is pinched or compressed along its path, and one of the largest nerves in the body is the sciatic nerve.
What is sciatica?
The sciatic nerve courses through the back before dividing and passing down each leg. Along the way it can get pinched or compressed, becoming inflamed and causing a range of symptoms:
- Back and sometimes neck pain that changes with position
- Shooting or shock-like pain traveling down one or both legs
- Numbness and tingling
- Weakness in the leg that makes it hard to sit, stand or walk
How can a chiropractor treat sciatica?
Our main goal is to relieve the compression causing the problem. We perform a series of adjustments and manipulations to give the sciatic nerve more room, then use physical therapy to restore strength and flexibility in the back and legs — a well-rounded plan for recovery.
